Software Engineer

HiveFire is an early-stage technology start up located in Cambridge, MA and Bangalore, India. We are seeking exceptional engineers to join our existing team with experience from MIT, Google, Microsoft and several other start-ups.
Engineers at HiveFire are tackling some of the hardest challenges of today's dynamic web:
- How do you overcome information overload?
- How do you reveal patterns from arbitrary and enormous datasets?
- How do you research, not just search, the web?
- How do you use state-of-the-art machine learning, natural language processing, information retrieval, human computer interaction and search engineering techniques to meet these challenges?

Responsibilities
- Architect, build and maintain a high performance Internet-scalable web application
- Diagnose performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations
- Maintain and extend a distributed system and crawler
- Actively contribute in product design and feature selection discussions
- Integrate machine learning, natural language processing and information retrieval components into application
- Survey and evaluate available technology options
- Quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and tools on the job
- Work with close-knit, collaborative team.
Requirements
We're looking for candidates who fit as many of the requirements as possible. However, even if you're not familiar or proficient with all the technologies below, drop us a note.
- Strong web development and software experience
- Experience with front-end technologies (XHTML, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, jQuery)
- Familiarity with tiered web application architecture and databases
- Knowledge of Python, Django, Java are a plus.
- Previous experience with relational databases, and indexing engines
- Degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred
- Versatile attitude towards technology -- ready and willing to learn and grow on the job
